Title रीति और रति की विस्मृत दुनिया: रीतिकाल और कवि देव
Abstract
हिंदी आलोचना की प्रारम्भिक बहसों से सूत्र लेते हुए यह पर्चा हिंदी की रीति कविता [सम्वत् 1600-1900] के बारे में औपनिवेशिक, राष्ट्रवादी व मार्क्सवादी आलोचना सरणियों द्वारा बनाई धारणाओं की समीक्षा करेगा और ब्रज कविता की परम्परा के खंडित हो जाने के कारणों पर विचार करेगा। रीति कविता के आंतरिक संगठन के भीतर से तात्कालिक काव्य-संसार, काव्य रूढ़ियों व सौंदर्य दृष्टि की एक झलक दिखाने की कोशिश के साथ ही यह पर्चा समकालीन पाठक के काव्य-बोध से उसकी भिन्नता को रेखांकित करेगा। देव कवि की कविताओं के विश्लेषण के जरिये यह पर्चा ब्रज कविता की उन विशिष्टताओं को चिन्हित करेगा जो वैकल्पिक आधुनिकताओं की ओर ले जाती हैं और हिंदी पट्टी के काव्य बोध में अभी भी कहीं गहरे पैठी हुई हैं। उत्तर मध्यकाल की ब्रज कविता में यौनिकता के सवाल को भी इस प्रक्रिया में परखा जाएगा जिसका एक छोर भक्ति कविता और दूसरा अपनी समकालीन उर्दू कविता में दर्ज है।
Bio
Professor Tripathi teaches in the School of Letters at Ambedkar University, Delhi. His PhD research has been published as a book in Hindi: Hindi aalochana mein canon-nirmaarh ki prakriya (Rajkamal Prakashan), and has also been translated in English by Shad Naved as The Hindi Canon and published by Tulika Books. Professor Tripathi has also published a collection of poems in Hindi titled 'syah hashiye' (Black Margins) in a gesture towards Saadat Hasan Manto.
He is a skilled translator with numerous projects to his credit, including a Hindi translation of the noted musician Mallikarjun Mansur's autobiography My Journey in Music, as well as translations of works by the Hindi poet Gaurakh Pandey, and writers Kathryn Hansen and Alok Bhalla.
Currently he is engaged in composing a verse-translation of 'Sandesh Raasak'--a most important work by the 12th century Apabramsha poet Abdul Rehman. He is also involved in a research project, along with colleagues Shad Naved and Awdhesh Tripathi, titled "Poetry in the Indo-Islamic Millenium" which includes in its purview Braj, Awadhi and Urdu poetry from the early modern period.
