School of Liberal Studies is organising a seminar by Dr. Adnan Farooqui on the topic "Political Representation of a Minority: Muslim Representation in Contemporary India" as part of Special Lecture Series in Economics. It is scheduled for September 04, 2019 (Wednesday) from 2.45 p.m. onwards at 71F, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University of Delhi, Kashmere Gate Campus.
Abstract: Against the backdrop of 2019 parliamentary elections this paper looks at the issue of Muslim representation in contemporary Indian politics. It gives an overview of broad trends and patterns in Muslim representation since Independence and seeks to draw out broad conclusions by focusing exclusively on the last two parliamentary elections. The attempt is to flag out systemic shifts in Indian politics which have come to consolidate themselves in recent years and redefine our body politics.
