About the author: Geetha B. Nambissan is Professor of Sociology of Education, Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her areas of research interest include exclusion, inclusion and in the education of marginalised groups, the middle classes and educational advantage, and the social and educational implications of private schools for the poor.

 

About the talk: The talk examines the claims of, and advocacy around, low-cost private education for the poor and disadvantaged groups in India. It discusses the implications of affordable learning, edubusinesses and public-private partnerships emerging from this advocacy for equitable and quality education.
