Professional Focus:
My professional training is in the field of Sociology of Education. My doctoral research focuses on emerging educational markets in urban fringe area. It focuses on educational markets and social access and school choice in an urban fringe area in Uttar Pradesh. It examines the spread of unrecognised private schools in a developing urban area and parental demand for better quality education in a small city of Uttar Pradesh. My M Phil research was a qualitative study of unrecognised private schools in a low income settlement of Delhi, India. As a teacher, I have pursued every available opportunity to teach and have developed few courses relevant to four year integrated pre-service teacher education programme (BABEd), under graduate and post graduate level programmes. I am trying to expand my research base by teaching some of the core courses such as early childhood care and education in India, sate, society and education. My larger area of research interest is marketization of education, urbanisation and education, social class, caste, gender and social mobility, and teacher education. As a teacher I am dedicated to enriching lives of students inside as well as outside the classroom.
