Dr. Banerjee completed his MA and PhD in economics from the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Dr. Banerjee joined Ambedkar University Delhi, in April 2012. Before that he was associated with the National Institute of Science Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS) as a “Fellow Scientist” for nearly 3 years.
