INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS DIVISION: WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO. . .

The International Affairs Division (IAD) is the nodal body of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi for advancing international academic cooperation and for integrating an international, intercultural and global dimension into the life of the university.By facilitating internationalization of the functions and delivery of educational services, IAD works to enhance the quality of learning and research for all stakeholders in the university and to strengthen links between the university and the wider world.

IAD functions include. . .

  • informing and advising University members (students, faculty, non-teaching staff) about opportunities for international study, research and work experience;
  • liaising between University and foreign universities and external agencies engaged in higher education internationalization;
  • contributing to curriculum development and fostering cross-border learning;
  • promoting international academic linkages, partnerships and research projects;
  • managing outward and inbound mobility of faculty, students, researchers, administrators and non-teaching staff;
  • advising about admission of foreign/international students to University;
  • advising and orienting foreign students at University and catering to their special needs.

IAD periodically conducts meetings and workshop about international academic activities for University faculty, students and staff. . . HIGHLIGHTS OF INTERNATIONALIZATION @ Dr. B. R. AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY DELHI.

University has enrolled about 50 students from 15 countries as ‘international’ students (short term and long term) since 2009.Additionally, more than 100 visiting foreign students and University students have interacted in planned academic activities (orientation meetings, workshops, master classes) in Delhi.

16 University students participated in official ‘exchanges’ with foreign higher education institutions between 2009 and 2020. A much larger number of University students have travelled to foreign HEI’s for conferences and other academic activities.

University has benefitted since 2009 from the engagement of more than 70 foreign scholars/teachers/researchers, many as guest lecturers or resource persons. About 20 of them have held visiting faculty appointments (between one week and one semester) in six Schools of University . Othershave been U.S. Fulbright exchange professors or have taught at University under official university partnership agreements.

4 U.S. and Canadian scholars have conducted workshops at University since 2016 under the prestigious Global Initiative of Academic Networksscheme (GIAN: Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India).

In addition to inbound mobilities undersponsoredexchange and partnership programmes, 12 foreign postgraduate students and doctoral scholars have been engaged with University since 2017 under an affiliated scholars programme.

There have been more than 100 University faculty and non-teaching staff person-visits to foreign higher education institutions as part of official University programmes and partnerships—with a much larger number of non-sponsored and individual visits (e.g., conferences).
